Cookie Policy

1. About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how ExieCare uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use our website and application.

Cookies help us provide core functionality — such as keeping you signed in, securing your session, and supporting subscription billing. Where required, we will ask for your consent before using cookies that are not strictly necessary.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use an online service. They allow the website or service to recognise your device and remember certain information about your visit.

Similar technologies may also be used, such as local storage, session storage, or browser tokens. In this policy, we use the term "cookies" to refer to cookies and similar technologies.

3. How ExieCare uses cookies

ExieCare uses cookies for the following purposes:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for ExieCare to work. They support account sign-in and authentication, secure session management, and payment processing for ExieCare Plus subscriptions. Without them, core features of the service — including uploading documents, viewing explanations, and managing appointments — would not function.

These cookies cannot be switched off because doing so would prevent the service from working correctly.

Preference cookies

These cookies remember choices you make when using ExieCare, such as whether you have already responded to a cookie notice or set display preferences.

Analytics cookies

ExieCare does not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

Marketing cookies

ExieCare does not use marketing or advertising cookies.

4. Third-party services

ExieCare uses a small number of trusted third-party providers to deliver core parts of the service. These providers may set their own cookies or tokens as part of their functionality:

AWS Cognito (authentication)

We use Amazon Web Services Cognito to manage user accounts and sign-in. Cognito sets tokens in your browser to keep your session active and secure. These are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled without preventing you from accessing the service.

Stripe (payments)

If you subscribe to ExieCare Plus, our payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe may set cookies to support secure checkout and fraud prevention. These apply only when you use billing or subscription features. Stripe's use of cookies is governed by their own Privacy Policy.

We do not use third-party advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or analytics platforms at this time.

5. Cookies we use

The table below summarises the categories of cookies ExieCare currently uses. Specific cookie names and durations may change as the product evolves.

6. Managing your cookie choices

Where ExieCare uses cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will provide a way for you to accept, reject, or manage those choices. You can update your preferences at any time where a cookie preference tool is made available.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or restrict cookies. However, blocking strictly necessary cookies — such as authentication tokens — will prevent you from signing in and using ExieCare.

7. How long cookies last

Cookies may be session cookies or persistent cookies. Session cookies are removed when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

We aim to keep cookies only for as long as necessary. For example, authentication tokens issued by AWS Cognito are refreshed during active use and expire after a period of inactivity. Stripe cookies are set during checkout and are governed by Stripe's own retention policies.

8. Relationship with our Privacy Policy

Some cookies involve the collection or use of personal data. Where this happens, our use of that data is also explained in our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to ExieCare, the cookies we use, or applicable legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
